The Village Hall at the Centre of Dalton
A large, adaptable hall in the middle of the village, used for celebrations, classes, meetings and everything in between.
Built in 1808, and Still the Middle of the Village
Two centuries on, the hall is still where the village meets. Generations have gathered here for celebrations, meetings and everything in between.
It is run by volunteers who live in and around the village, and anyone can hire it: a birthday party, a weekly class, a committee meeting, or a quiet room for a family on a difficult day.

What the Hall Is Used For
Parties and Celebrations
Birthdays, christenings, anniversaries and family celebrations. Room for a hundred, a kitchen to feed them, and the chairs stack away when the dancing starts.
Local Groups and Meetings
A regular meeting place for groups based in and around the village, on a standing booking at a reduced rate, with tables and chairs set out however you need them.
Classes and Workshops
Exercise classes, craft sessions and evening courses. A level floor, plenty of room to spread out, and parking directly outside for everyone arriving.
Clubs and Activities
Standing bookings for clubs that meet weekly, monthly or occasionally, at the lower rate for regular groups, with the same slot held for you through the year.
Events and Fundraisers
Bingo nights, coffee mornings, sales and fundraising socials. The kitchen and the urn come with the hall, and the room takes a crowd without feeling full.
Private Family Occasions
A private room for funerals, wakes and family gatherings, with the kitchen for teas and the hall to yourselves for as long as you need it.
Inside the Hall
One large, bright room with a timber-trussed ceiling, wood panelling and windows onto the fields on either side. A small stage stands at one end, and the tables and chairs stack away, so the room can be set out to suit whatever you are holding.

Get involved
The Hall Depends on Volunteers
A new committee has taken the hall on, and there is a good deal to do: repairs, the heating, and building a fuller programme through the year.
Help is always welcome, and joining the committee is not a requirement. Baking for a coffee morning, setting out chairs, or giving an hour on the night of an event all make a difference.

The bonfire is lit at half six and the fireworks follow. Hot drinks and soup served from the hall kitchen.

Is there a kitchen?
Yes. The kitchen is included with any hire, for making tea, serving food and washing up afterwards. If you need something in particular, ask before you book and we will tell you what is there.
How many people does the hall hold?
It is one large, adaptable room, suitable for anything from a small meeting round a table to a party of about a hundred. Tell us how many you are expecting and we will say whether the hall suits.
Is the hall wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the hall is wheelchair accessible and on one level. If you have particular access requirements, mention them when you enquire and we will do what we can.
